Gir is a strong dairy choice for Jaipur. Look for a cow in early lactation, milk her in front of you, and do a CMT test on all four quarters before paying. Check age, body condition, and ask which month of lactation she is in. For a cow above fifty thousand rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet along. Gir usually gives six to ten liters per day, and well managed animals can reach twelve to fifteen liters.
