For a buffalo, bypass feed is useful when milk yield is high and you want more energy and protein to reach the udder without too much breakdown in the rumen. Give it only as part of the total ration, along with green fodder, dry fodder, and mineral mixture. Start slowly over three to five days so the stomach adjusts. If milk is low or the animal is not in peak lactation, normal balanced feed is usually enough. Consult a veterinarian before administering any medicine or treatment.
