Yes, calcium can be given before calving, but only in the right way. In the last ten days, do not give random calcium injections on your own. Give a proper mineral mixture daily, and if the cow is weak or off feed, use calcium only on a vet’s advice. Too much calcium before calving can sometimes upset the body’s own calcium control.
