FMD , how to detect

Foot and mouth disease usually starts with fever, drooling, and pain in the mouth and feet. Look for blisters or raw sores on the tongue, gums, lips, and between the claws. The animal will stop grazing well, chew slowly, and may lift the feet or limp. Milk can drop suddenly in a dairy cow or buffalo. If you see these signs, separate the animal from the herd at once, keep it on soft feed, and give clean water. Rinse the mouth gently with light pink potassium permanganate solution and keep the feet clean and dry. FMD spreads very fast, so check the other animals twice a day. Treating it early saves far more milk than waiting, because a sick dairy animal can lose several days of production. If more than one animal shows fever, mouth sores, or lameness, get veterinary help the same day.
