For a dairy cow in your area, look for Sahiwal, Gir, HF cross, or Jersey cross. In Jaunpur and nearby Uttar Pradesh, HF cross and Jersey cross are common for higher milk, while Sahiwal and Gir are better for heat and disease resistance. Before paying, milk the cow in your presence, do a CMT test on all four quarters, ask which month of lactation she is in, and check age and body condition. If the price is above fifty thousand rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet with you.
