How do I check milk yield before paying?
Milk her in your presence and measure the milk from both milkings if possible. A cow can look good but hide low yield. Ask which month of lactation she is in, because yield drops after peak. Check the udder for heat, pain, or hard quarters, and do a CMT test on all four quarters. If the seller refuses on-site milking, walk away. For a purchase above ₹50,000, take a Pashumitra or vet with you.
