How do I check the udder properly?
Check the udder after milking and again before milking. It should feel soft, even, and warm, not hard or painful. Look for swelling, cuts, heat, or one quarter being smaller. Squeeze each teat gently; milk should come out smoothly, not with clots or wateriness. If one side is hard or the milk is abnormal, avoid that animal. Consult a veterinarian before administering any medicine or treatment.
