How do I do a CMT test?
CMT is a simple mastitis check. Take a CMT paddle, put a little milk from each quarter in separate cups, add equal CMT reagent, and swirl gently. If it stays thin, that quarter is usually fine. If it turns jelly-like or purple, that quarter may have subclinical mastitis. Test after milking, and do not buy the cow if two or more quarters react. Consult a veterinarian before administering any medicine or treatment.
