Punganur is a small indigenous dairy cow, but for buying I would still check milk in your presence first. Milk all quarters, do a CMT test, ask the lactation month, and avoid cows above seven years. For steady milk, choose a healthy second or third lactation animal with good udder and body condition. If you want more than fifteen liters daily, one cow will not stay there long; two staggered cows are better. For any purchase above fifty thousand rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet.
