Jersey cow is a good dairy choice for your area. It usually calves early and gives decent milk with good fat. For buying, milk her in your presence, do a CMT test on all four quarters, check which month of lactation she is in, and verify age and body condition. If you want steady fifteen litres or more, one cow is not enough; keep two cows with staggered calvings. For any cow above fifty thousand rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet along.
