My cow is off feed, what should I do?

Off feed in a cow is usually rumen upset, fever, or mouth pain. First, check her temperature, look for drooling, mouth sores, bloat, loose dung, or a hard udder. Give clean water, soft green fodder, and a little mineral mixture. Keep her in shade and do not force concentrate feed for now. If the belly is swollen on the left side, walk her slowly and massage that side. If she has fever, is not chewing cud, or stays off feed for more than one day, she needs a vet visit today. In a lactating cow, every day of not eating can cut milk and money fast. If she becomes weak, stops passing dung, or cannot stand properly, book a Pashu Vet on Pashushala or call one eight zero zero one eight zero one five five one.
