Punganur is a very small indigenous cow, but for dairy buying I would not choose it for high milk. If you want milk, go for Sahiwal, Gir, HF cross, or Jersey cross. Before paying, milk the cow in your presence, do a CMT test on all four quarters, check lactation month, and verify age and body condition. If the price is above fifty thousand rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet with you.
