Punganur is a small dairy cow, good for low feed cost and home milk use. For buying, check that she milks in front of you, do a CMT test on all four quarters, ask which month of lactation she is in, and verify age and body condition. For a cow in one to two lakh rupees, take a Pashumitra or vet along. If you want steady milk, choose a healthy young cow with a clean udder and good teat shape.
