What medicine should I give?

Umbilical infection is likely starting in the calf. Clean the stump with povidone iodine and keep it dry. Do not cut it again, tie it, or put ash, oil, or turmeric on it. Keep the calf on clean dry bedding and watch for swelling, heat, pus, fever, or the calf not drinking milk. If any of these are present, the calf needs a veterinarian today because newborn infections can spread fast. Consult a veterinarian before administering any medicine or treatment. Treating it now is much cheaper than losing a young calf to blood infection.
