What signs should I check before buying?
Check the udder first. It should be soft, even, and without hard lumps or old mastitis marks. Then look at the body, eyes, legs, and hooves. A good Murrah should stand firmly, walk straight, eat well, and have a calm nature. Also see the milk record, calving history, and whether the seller can show regular deworming and vaccination. If the udder is uneven, the animal is thin, or she limps, leave her.
